The Santorini volcano lies in the middle of the caldera(this is the largest caldera on earth).The caldera is 400m deep in some places.The volcano is still active with hot springs and steam coming out of its side and the occasional smell of sulphur.Daytrips can be taken from Fira harbour every 2 hrs.The path leads from the waters edge to the four craters with the return route on the same paths.from the top (aprx 150m)you can see the whole caldera and the two islands of Nea Kameni and Aspronisi.
