Oia (pronounced ee-a) is the prettiest village in the Aegean,Its situated in the north-western tip of the island of Santorini ,on the cliff edge.Unlike Fira is only busy in the early evening during its famous sunset, coachloads arrive every day to cram the western side of the village to see and photograph the sunset. The village has 35 churches and chaples, this reflects its maritime histiory (churches build by the seamen devoted to various saints for saving them from certain perilous situations) as well as a maritime museum.Oia is served by two small harbours,Armeni and Ammoudhi as well as a road from Fira. The light and colours are quite unusual, blue and white buildings, red and brown cliffs, the blue of the Aegean and the sky,and early evening the orange and reds of the sunset. There is one pedestrian main street that overlooks the caldera and the blue domed churchesand if you are filling fit 600 ft of steps to the 2 harbours.
