Olympic Airways to Thessaloniki from Gatwick,5 times a week ,cost £160-£220 depending on the time of year,disadvantage ,it arrives at Thessaloniki at 22:30hrs.
Essential,booked on line through auto-europe or similar internet booking engines.Cost,£118 for 9 days(sept-oct booking, summer maybe more expencive),to be picked up at airport.

There are 6 huts on mount olympus,3 above 2000m 1 at 1000m 1 at 1800m and 1under construction at 1500m. 1.Spilios agapitos (Zolotas hut) at 2100m sleeps around 80,cost 10 euros for bed ,food cost extra,very good facilities(it has a computer and sattelite phone)booking only essential if staying there friday or saturday. 2.Yiosos Apostolidis,at 2700m the highest hut in Greece and the Balkans,cost 8 euros for bed, food cost extra,it sleeps around 100,good facilities, again booking only essential for weekeds. 3.Christos Kakalos(King Paul) near Yiosos hut at the edge of the Plateu of the Muses,sleeps 15 very small and cosy,good views,cost 8 euros for bed ,food is extra,again if you are planning to stay there the weekend prebook. 4.Stavros,at 1000m,on the road to Prionia ,more of a cafe than a hut beds ! i was refused a bed although they had vacancies.(excuse ,would not let just one person in an empty dormitory room). 5.Vrysopoules, on the west face of the mountain at 1800m,mentioned in guide books and maps ,of unknown quality,to reach it you need the heftiest of 4by4 vehicles. 6.Under construction at Petrostrounga at 1500m to be competed in the next few years.
