Last day in Zagori,out of monodendri towards the location Oxia to see the gorge from the balcony,an amazing sight,from that spot you can see how enormous the gorge is.A visit to Zagori is not complete without seeing the famous stone bridges.I drove to the village of Kipoi to see two of the most famous,the Kokorou and Kalogeriko bridges.The area is quite stunning ,with beutifull stone villages,rivers,bridges,old churches and forested mountains.I then headed towards Meteora,retracing my route with a stop at the village of Metsovo.The village of Kastraki is situated under the great rocks of meteora and i chose a hotel that overlooked the valley(accomodation is very easy to find in October)so i could have my coffe on the balcony with an incredible view in front of me.A late afternoon drive took me to a vantage point from where i could see the sunset over the monasteries.In the evening i met again with the Italian couple i met in the gorge for a dinner of souvlaki and a chat.On saturday i started my return journey towards Thessaloniki with a detour so i could see mount olympus from a different side.I drove to the rear of the mountain towards Elassona and i crossed over to Leptocaria by the Aegean coast.(Olympus is not just one peak,is a range,the northern part is called Pano Olympos and the lower part to the south,Kato Olympos, the Leptocaria rd cuts it in the middle).The last night was spend in a hotel in Litohoro .A superb tour and trek.highly reccomended,Downside,lack of lunches while on trek.To my great surprise i met no British people on the treks or the tour,most of the trekkers were Germans ,Italians,Israelis and Americans.
