DAY 6
Last day of the trek, late start so we had time to explore the area around the camp and take some photos.By 9am we started first with a descent to the river bed where the mule caravan overtook us,and then a long ascent to the last pass at 3000m.The views from the pass were superb ,with the Bougoumez valley beneath us.The area we were looking at is the widest part of the valley and showed how fertile and lush the valley is.The 1000m descent was hot and uneventfull. At the old hydroelectric station we stopped for another good lunch and a rest. From there we crossed the valley to stop for refreshments at their local cafe ,again a barrel of cold water with Cokes in it ,no sign of electricity.Back at the gite early, a hamam (steam bath)was waiting for us and what a pleasure it was.Freshly shaved and smelling good we had our last dinner in the high Atlas. After dinner we watched a program of local dancers and singers. We generously tipped Mustapha the excelent cook and the porters and left all our surplus equipment and clothing.By now as i said we were experienced so we slept in the yard allfresco under the stars. What i think of the trek?Superb ,Abrilliant group considering , our ages were from 25 to 62,and beleive it or not 9 unmarried women in a group of 16.Only complain, the trek should have been graded C/D intead of B/C so people can prepare themselves better psycologicaly.Still a GREAT ADVENTURE.
