7 am start (we had a not so comfortable night ,we had to sleep in our 3 season sleeping bags indoors and we didnt even think of opening the window) the mule caravan was loaded and we kicked off.We mainly followed the river northwards through berber villages, apple groves and wallnut trees. In a couple of hrs we passed a second pyramid hill with the second grain store and headed towards the mountains. The ascent to our first lunch stop was tough due to being our first day and the high temperature,26 c at 2600m.The lunch was superb and after a good rest started our trek again. The path followed an andulating terrain for several miles and after a small descent to our first campsite at 2400m.Trek results, around 18 miles of walking,5 litres of water, probably 3 litres of sweat, tents pitched on a boulder field with 5 dec inclination and looking to find a boulder big enough to go toilet behind. Again the evening meal was very good, three course freshly cooked with mint tea at the end.To our amazement beer, wine and mineral water were for sale in a bucket of cold water outside(thats berber salesmanship for you).I bought mineral water to drink and even wash in the morning , every day of the trek.
