Helvellyn the second highest mountain in England at 3118ft. The weather was worst than the day before, snow fell overnight on the mountains and the wind increased with gusts of up to 100mph.We climbed the mountain from the Helvellyn Gill car park. The climb up to Browncove Crags was uneventfull, from there on we stuggled to the top in a blizzard and we had an even worst time coming down with winds up to 100mph near Lower Man,at times we could not even stand on our feet and we had to kneel.Once down Browncove Crags the wind subsided to more reasonable levels and we worked our way down on the slippery steps.I should mention that for the two young girls with us,Irene and Natasha, was their first trip to the Lakes.
