A very cold night,i was first up,i had to negotiate my way out of the tent - my tentmate decided to pee at the entrance during the night because it was too cold to go to the toilet. On my visit to the toilet i discovered that the water barrels had a layer of ice on top,so our water bottles. We struggled to eat our fetta cheese and cucumber breakfast.Seven people wanted to climb mount Embler so off they went up the terrible scree path.To my surprise the fit Canadians stayed behind, they were the only ones to do any walking around the camp anyway. We lazed around and kept amused by the girls riding the mules to the lake for a wash. The rest of the group arrived just before lunchtime,we all had a picnic lunch in the middle of the camp. The Canadians alcohol consumption seemed to go up with the altitude, the male member had a bottle of beer permanently attached to his hand.the rest of the afternoon was even layzier,we sunbathed more and watched the afternoon shuttle mule service to the lake, the Canadians had problems riding the mules like everybody else, the legend that all Canadians are Mounties went down the drain.I decided to have a wash, the water was colder than i thought, there was a layer of ice on the shady side of the lake.I managed it without any major injury. On my return from the lake i was called by someone from a black tent near the unfinished hut. There was garden tables and chairs outside and actual punters,it was the "crazy Turk's"bar as Ersin called it.I had a beer and a gin and tonic sitting on a chair in the middle of nowhere chatting to German trekkers at 3100m,whats next? The evening came and the temperature dropped dramatically,we zipped ourselves in the dining tent for our evening meal and a bit of heat. Some people went to bed early some stayed up until around 10:30 pm,there was no campfire, the nearest timber supply was 1100m below. For more Canadian bashing you have to read next days account.
